It needles down, with push and drive
Seeking just to stay alive
With thoughts not of others’ pain
But only of a selfish gain
In weakest spots it finds its house
And hunkers down with thoughts of spouse
Its poison tries to seep through skin
With hopes of glamourizing sin
Yet sting is stifled as it drills
By One whose heart reduces chill
With healing ointment my God pours
Into damaged hurting sores
His warmth melts icy searing pain
And pulls the splinter out again
The softening of splinter bore
The Grace to go and sin no more
